The Turks torture Theoklitos and shoot the Greeks who have gathered in the square. Lucy confesses to Father Gregory the horror she experienced. In the caravan of Murat and Harun, 4 of the prisoners are ordered to dig a pit. Sophia realizes that this is a tomb intended for women. The guards catch the helpless women, and throw them into the pit. Themis, his mother and Sotiria start for the mountain. Passing by the square they see Theoklitos hanging . Eirini begins to return to Istanbul. Miltos is released and is determined to find Iphigenia and the child. A group of villagers sees the Christians in the clearing and approaches them. Melike and Gesthimani tell Ifigenia to give the child to save him.
