Chang San-lang and the corrupt officials are in the silk business and are very powerful in the area. They order the release of Yao-chin and others. Chang San-lang knows what Lan Ling did, is very angry and swears to kill Lan Ling for revenge . Meanwhile, Lan Ling has arrived and threatens to kill the corrupt officials so as to force Chang San-lang get rid of Siang-r and close the silk business in three days. Li Tsing has investigated the life of the people, and tells Chang San-lang about the poverty. He persuades Chang San-lang to revolt but Chang thinks it is not yet the right time. Yao-chin wants Chang to join them in the city, but Chang refuses and everybody is disappointed . However, Siang-r is happy. Li Tsing and Yao-chin still want Chang San-lang to revolt. Siang-r is very worried. Lan Ling suddenly appears and says they can cooperate to prevent Chang San-lang from revolt if Siang-r will leave Chang……
