Tom is incensed when he discovers that red paint has been thrown over the war memorial two days before Remembrance Day and gives up his day off to find the person responsible. Meanwhile Keith Purvis comes in to pay a traffic fine which turns out to be bogus; there must be a fake cop operating in the area . Tom goes to interview a suspect in the desecration case and finds him to be an old policemate from NSW who has just been forced to retire amid corruption allegations and is now looking for somewhere to retire. Could he be the fake copper? Then an angry motorist reports he is the victim of ""road rage""—a young hoon just tried to run him off the road. Tom is convinced there is some sort of link between these diverse incidents . And Dash also runs into an old friend, under suspicious circumstances also.
