The departure of one couple causes a palpable sense of loss for Jacky and Menno, and Kim and Jim. The other camp seems less bothered by it. While the renovation couples continue toiling away at an endless to-do list for the completion of the stairs and the hallway, contractor Ray discovers that someone has thrown asbestos into the container . The atmosphere changes immediately: no one wants to foot the bill for this, because no one has money to spare to help pay for it. Jacky and Menno are pushed to the limit during the endless scraping of the stairwell. Especially when Lotty and Frank seemingly carefree spend their time on coffee breaks, because they both outsourced the stair work, Jacky's frustration runs high and Menno has to endure that constant irritation.
