Laxmibai convinces Gangadhar Rao to carryout the ceremonies. She inscribes Ganga's name on Gangadhar Rao's hands with henna. Laxmibai helps Ganga get ready as a bride. Ganga is moved by Laxmibai's generosity. Indu and the other ladies of the court are moved by Laxmibai's sacrifice. Ganga is saddened when the design of henna on her hand is of a light colour as it signifies that her husband does not love her . Gangadhar meets Ganga and thanks her for accepting the proposal. But he tells Ganga that he will never love her as only Laxmibai is his only love. Ganga's conscience asks her to speak the truth about Laxmibai's pregnancy. She decides not to marry Gangadhar but Jankibai tells Ganga to think about the grandeur and splendor of becoming a queen. Ganga is lured by the greed of becoming a queen. Laxmibai dresses up Ganga with her own ornaments . Ganga is led to the wedding alter by Laxmibai.
