After chatting in front of the ruined building where Western Confections Paradise plans to build its new factory, Genta, Mitsuhiko, and Ayumi discover a right hand emerging from some concrete debris. The three of them faint, and when Conan discovers them and hears what happened to them, he finds a trail of blood leading elsewhere. They believe the person whose hand they saw is alive and must have gone somewhere . They follow the trail to the Western Confections Paradise store, where they recall having a conversation a week earlier.
