Stella informs Joe Rod stopped by to see him. Joe begs her to leave Peyton Place with him. She next meets up with Ada, who tells her she should convince Joe his relationship with Rita is over. David talks to Doris about his meeting with Hannah, when Allison interrupts them to babysit on Kim. She visits the library with her, where they run into Norman. Norman asks Kim not to stare at her . He next announces he will leave Peyton Place to live in Canada and Allison is shocked. While Allison persuades him to stay, Kim runs away. Rod finds Joe at the wharf and he pushes Rod. Rod fights back and Kim witnesses it. Joe falls and hits his head. Rod offers to help him, but Joe responds with spitting at him, so Rod walks away. Joe follows him, but collapses.
