Elliot runs into Elizabeth's younger brother Paul Hanley on the streets of Peyton Place. Having studied in Cambridge, Paul has returned to teach at Peyton College. They discuss Elizabeth's death. Paul assures Elliot that his testimony alone did not convict Elliot of murder and repeats his claim that he heard Elliot arguing with Elizabeth right before the murder. Julie is cross with Rodney for his treatment of her absent daughter . In New York, Sharon reveals that her roommate Libby is sailing around the Greek isles and probably won't return for some time. Sharon asks Betty to stay in her apartment while Libby is gone. Betty makes herself at home in the luxurious surroundings. Allison meets Paul at the Book Gallery and notes that he is one of her professors for the spring semester. Afterward, Elliot arrives, and then Dr . Rossi comes in with news that Eli is in need of a gall bladder operation.
